Musical Director’s Report:
- Christmas Concerts – Sunday December 16th 2007 in the Catholic Church, Faringdon with Alison Trowell and Izi Hunt (flutes), Myles Hartley (organ), Ben Beurklian-Carter (Baritone) and soloists from the choir.
- Tuesday December 18th 2007 in Littleworth Church this time with Louise Woodgate (sop) and John Oxlade (piano).
Both programmes included carols for both choir and audience. At the Faringdon concert we sang in addition Charpentier’s ‘Messe de Minuit pour Noel’, and at the Littleworth concert Louise sang some solos and some items jointly with the choir. It was good to sing in the refurbished Catholic Church. Debra covered both alto and tenor solo parts, with the conductor also putting in the occasional tenor entry, since Sjoerd’s voice had decided to take a holiday – this made for a very interesting trio in the Charpentier! The flutes also added a touch of authenticity and interest. Both concerts were well attended, and the Littleworth one was, as usual, well organised by Jill Woodward. Louise sang well and the programme included, as usual, ‘O Holy Night’ and ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas’.
