PHIL SINGLETON -  MUSICAL DIRECTOR (Maternity Cover)

PhilSConductor-composer Philip Singleton is a musician in high demand, working regularly within a number of high-profile institutions in Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey and Hampshire. He is an experienced conductor, having given performances of established repertoire and new music in Britain and abroad. Phil has been Principal Conductor and Musical Director of the Marlborough Concert Orchestra since April 2022, and he is now excited to also be working with the Faringdon Singers for the Spring and Summer terms - also exploring the potential opportunities for collaboration between the orchestra and choir.

Highlights of Philip’s conducting career have included appearances at major venues including the Royal Albert Hall, the UK premiere of Manifestations by the French composer Gerard Grisey, and the first performances of much of his own music. These have included the premieres of his Chamber Symphony (2015) and of his Symphonie Commemorative, which was commissioned to mark the centenary of the armistice of 1918.
