ClareCroppedClare was educated at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge where she held a choral scholarship whilst studying Modern and Medieval Languages. She then completed a PGCE in Secondary Music education at Oxford Brookes University before taking up a post at St Gabriel’s School in Newbury. Between 2014-2022, Clare was Director of Music at the Manor Preparatory School, Abingdon. She now works as a freelance singing teacher.

As a conductor, Clare has worked with numerous choirs for children and adults both locally and abroad. She has coached choirs to success in local competitions such as the Oxford Music Festival and has run singing workshops. She is very experienced classroom practitioner and vocal coach.

Clare has sung with several choirs herself, including Schola Pietatis Antonio Vivaldi, with whom she filmed a BBC documentary on the lives of the female musicians in La Pieta, Venice. She is an experienced soloist and her diverse performances have taken her into the world of opera, early music and jazz. Her roles have included Belinda in Dido and Aeneas and Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro.

PhilSConductor-composer Philip Singleton is a musician in high demand, working regularly within a number of high-profile institutions in Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey and Hampshire. He is an experienced conductor, having given performances of established repertoire and new music in Britain and abroad. Phil has been Principal Conductor and Musical Director of the Marlborough Concert Orchestra since April 2022, and he is now excited to also be working with the Faringdon Singers for the Spring and Summer terms - also exploring the potential opportunities for collaboration between the orchestra and choir.

Highlights of Philip’s conducting career have included appearances at major venues including the Royal Albert Hall, the UK premiere of Manifestations by the French composer Gerard Grisey, and the first performances of much of his own music. These have included the premieres of his Chamber Symphony (2015) and of his Symphonie Commemorative, which was commissioned to mark the centenary of the armistice of 1918.
